A few new projects

Quick shot of what the tv was on
The new entertainment center.  Its an ashley furniture piece, got it for $450

I
cute owl I got at kohls for five bucks!
These were old black frames I sprayed white got ribbon from hobby lobby and put on wall
I really like the look of big pictures so blew this up and costco and got frames at hobby lobby

Got the glass bottles at hobby lobby tonight and put flowers in them, not sure if I love them yet.  And yes we were watching smallville!

I finally got an entertainment center, and it really changes the feel of our family room.  It feels more complete.  After months of searching and debating what to do I found a really cute entertainment center online for a really good price. Before our TV was sitting on a piece of Kendall's parents old 4 piece entertainment center they gave us years ago.  It was just supposed to be temporary but years later it was still sitting there staring at me reminding every day how much I wanted something else!

Also back in November we got really cute family pics, and I have been wanting to put some up in my house.  So finally months later (why do I take so long to get something done!) I got some blown up and on the wall.  It makes our house feel more homey and I love it!  Plus my girls are seriously adorable! Here are a few pics of what I have done.

Hutch redo

Okay so if you haven't noticed a trend in my decorating, it is basically change anything that was red in my house to a lighter brighter color! I have nothing against red, so if you have red in your house don't think I am judging you. I just had way too much red in my house and just wanted a change. I unfortunately did not take a before pic of my hutch, but found two old pics that has part of the hutch in it so you can get an idea of what it looked like. Taking all that red paint off was a challenge! Thanks to my Mom and a can of paint stripper(the only kind of stripper I endorse) we got the red off. Side note: if using paint stripper put something under what you are painting because it gets all over the floor. Since the paint was red, it looks like a murder took place in my garage, ah! So once we got all the red off we painted it white(a couple weeks later, things get done slow in my house) Then after it sat my living room in two pieces for a week I decided to finish it the other day and am love with my new hutch. What do you think?

Mantle

I love having a mantle! My family room feels more complete with it. Before above my fireplace was bright red and just not my style anymore. I'm not sure if I love how my mantle is decorated right now, but it looks so much better! I added the empty frames in the space at bottom and think it looks really good! I have been collecting frames from thrift stores, really not sure what I was going to do with them. So I'm glad I found use for a few of them.

The power of the Curtain

My poor front rooms windows have never in their existence had curtains hung on them. Poor Windows! Our house was a few years old when we moved in, but no one had really lived in it. And we have been in this house for six years and those windows have been naked the whole time! After we painted the front room I was in search of the perfect curtains with no luck. Then I happened to be browsing the aisles of Target and fell in love with the pattern on a tablecloth. I thought, "These would be the perfect fabric to make curtains for my front room." Lightbulb! So that is what I did. They were a little short so I added some coordinating fabric and ribbon. It was super easy, and I love my new tablecloth curtains! I am pretty sure you can make curtains out of anything : Tableclothes, sheets, shower curtains and so much more. So don't be afraid to put curtains on your windows. It makes a world of difference!

Cheap decorating

unique bottles to put on my plant shelf. Bought a ross and thrift stores.
I wish I would have got a before pic of this bread box. It was ugly! Someone had wrote on it and it had ugly wood knobs. So I painted it and put new knobs. It was seven dollars.
These were gold frames I found at a thrift store, two dollars each. Painted them and put scrapbook paper in it to make trays.

Painted all my red accents in my kitchen white and yellow. They look like new and it was only a few dollars for spray paint.
side table, bought for five bucks at a garage sale. I'm going to paint it soon. mirrored tray for holding remotes, thrift store three dollars. decoupaged scrapbook paper on a dollar store frame for the pic on the table.
found this a thrift store for a couple bucks. It had a gold clock in it, and I took that out and turned it into this.
Accents from tj maxx homegoods store. love that place!
Rug from ross, sixty bucks. love it!!

Here are some more pics of my house, and projects I have been working on. Thrift stores are my new favorite place to shop, well actually I have always loved thrifting. The satisfaction of finding something plain and boring and seeing the potential is amazing!

Lovely light

So now that I moved my dining area to the front room. I have some lighting issues. I have lights hanging in my family room that are meant to be over a table and where my table is there is no light! Awww its very frustrating. I am not an electrician and have no idea to go about moving where I want lights hung in my house. But what I do know, is that I am going to make this drum pendant light to hang above my table! Maybe use some fun fabric? This lady made it for 18 dollars!!! I am so excited to give it a try! check it out at the keylor family blog. Amazing!!!!
